Shamaa Dance Company offers regular Kathak dance classes at Morley College. Kathak training is provided at beginners, intermediate and advanced level, leading in the summer term to a performance project. The students have an opportunity to perform in the yearly summer dance concert at the College together with other opportunities to perform. Private tuition is available with Shamaa Dance Company. Kathak students have the option to undertake ISTD exams accredited by the QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework) UK.
Members of Shamaa Dance Company have worked in many Primary and Secondary schools, linking dance to the school curriculum. Members of Shamaa Dance Company have made an input into the celebration of festivals, International days, story telling sessions and as part of Shamaa Dance Company’s Educational projects in schools.
Offers of opening Kathak Classes in the community are welcome.
